When I find myself needing to check e-mail quickly and without much fuss, I turn to mutt. Especially if I need to dig through massive amounts of e-mail.

It’s very simple to set up and run, but has a huge array of features. It can be extended and tweaked to send e-mail, with attachments. If you need a terminal-based e-mail client Mutt is the way to go!
